Corona painting competition What does the Corona crisis mean for our future coexistence? How has the world changed? How should we deal with this pandemic and adhere to the new rules? No more meeting friends, no longer being able to go to school and having to do without a lot of things. How are students experiencing this pandemic? In art class, students from grades 5 to 8 created great works of art about the pandemic. An individual competition and a class competition were held. The school enrolment

The school enrolment ceremony on September 22, 2020 took place under special circumstances this year. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, students, parents and teachers had to adhere to special hygiene rules. But despite the strict precautionary measures, the celebration was a complete success. As it is every year, the stage was beautifully decorated. Mrs. Hailer, our new headmistress, and Madame Sahar, head of the Egyptian department, gave a short speech. German ambassador visits German School Hurghada

Dr. Nunn, German ambassador in Egypt, visited for the first time the German School Hurghada and handed over the certificate “Excellent German School abroad” to students, parents, teacher and school board during a ceremony in front of the school building. Text and photos: Ernst Breuer

Lecture about Columbia in Geographie lessons class 5 and 7

In October we had a nice highlight in the Geographie lessons of classes 5 and 7 of Mrs. Golbeck: Mrs. Esperanza Barracaldo (Manager of the CC Red Sea and born in Columbia) invited the students on a tour to the columbian country side. She shared her impressions of a stay last summer in a columbian school which was rebuilt after being destroyed by a hurricane. Further on, she told the students about the original inhabitants of Columbia, about their habits and traditions. Projectweek “No Plastic”

Since the beginning of the school year we focussed on the reduction and avoidance of plastic waste. Therefore our school year was ending with an environmental week, which was based on these topics as well. In cooperation with Hepca, all student went to an island clean up, to collect rubbish as well as to get an idea how this situation of waste in the Red Sea is lookin like. Carnival at the DSH

Celebration carnival has a long tradition at our school: from Nursery and Pre School up to Primary School all students had a great time on the day, either in school, but also in the afternoon in the Cultural Center CC Red Sea next door, where our parents`representatives organized a fantastic party for our kids. The funny day ended by our carnival parade in front of our school. Thanks to our parents for the organization!

Open Day 2019

Every year the DSH is inviting the school community to join us on our open day. The theme of this was “Language – more than words”. During the week before, all students worked on different projects, which were proudly presented on the open day: films, small plays, recipe books as well as great decorations in all class rooms. The visitors had the chance to see all projects and to get an impression of our creative and successful work at our school –  and of course enjoy having home made cakes on the buffet organized by our parents representatives. Trip to Berlin 2018 – a report by Sherif and Bradley

  Berlin Trip On the evening of the 10th of December 2018, classes ten, eleven and twelve flew with Germania airlines from Hurghada, Egypt to Berlin, the capital of Germany. It was a highly anticipated trip that has been in plan by the school, teachers, and students for several months. In this report we want to share some of the highlights of our trip.
